Comedian/Edward Blake Timeline in Watchmen The Movie

So I have nothing to do so many things to do I don’t know where to start, I started thinking about how the Comedian looks throughout the Watchmen movie. He seems to age at an inconsistent rate.

Here he is assassinating John Kennedy (Age 39). No costume (a bit obvious for an assassination),  but rocking the all black:

Here he is at the Minuteman meeting where he’s confronted by Sally for talking to Laurie (Age 42). Only 3 years gone by. Still looking good:

In Vietnam (Age 47) Sideburns a bit longer, but still looking looking sexy. Must be the warm tropical climate.

Just before the passing of the Keene Act (Age 53) The last six years have been tough, but still just some classy grey and still looking amazing in that costume!

And at his death (Age 61) Wow! The years have not been kind, but still very hot, in a Sugar Daddy sort of way.

Lol, indeed, but they changed his timeline in the movie too.

Haha, awesome! Thank you for that. It was just the right amount of JDM to brighten my day!

I know, so I didn’t go back to the first minutemen meeting. I didn’t know what date that would be.

Thanks:) I tweaked it a bit. I’m always editing.

The first time the Minutemen were all together was at a Christmas party in 1939.
The Comedian was supposed to be 16 at the time, so that would mean that he was born in 1923.
Going from there, I get almost the same numbers as you, give and take one or two years.

See, I got nothing to do, either. :-)

Oh, but that meeting when Eddie talked to Laurie and was confronted by Sally? That wasn’t a Minutemen meeting. That was the first Watchmen (or Crimebusters) meeting in 1966. ;-)

I think they made The Comedian quite a couple of years older in the movie. In interviews they always said that he was 69 when he was murdered, which would make him seven years older than he is in the book. And in the movie, he certainly looked more like 69 than 61 in his death scene.
My guess is that they did that because, try as they might, there was no way they could sell Jeffrey as being aged 17 in the attempted rape scene. LOL

I feel like I’m in JDM withdrawal, so I may post even more pics!

    Oh right! The Watchmen meeting.

And I had trouble following the timeline a bit, so I just adjusted it for myself!

Same here. With how non-linear the story is, I had trouble getting events and years straight, that’s why I did this little game with numbers.

That was always one of the main things that worried me about the movie – how people would fare that didn’t read the comic first. As a matter of fact, I know of people that had a bit of trouble getting the Minutemen and Watchmen etc straight.

Did you read the comic first?

And, by the way, did you read my PM?

Okay, got the concrete number: they made The Comedian six years older in the movie. They said he was born in 1918, but in the comic he was born in 1924.
So that would make him 67 when he died in the movie…..and 61 in the comic.

And I still think they made him older in the movie, because Jeffrey just wouldn’t look like 16 in the rape scene. Even 22 was a bit of a stretch, but okay. LOL
