I already posted this on my Livejournal, but thought I’d move it over here.
According to Grey’s Anatomy Insider, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has submitted his name for consideration for a Primetime Emmy Guest Actor nomination. Usually the actors who win in this categories are “name” actors, so maybe this year he’ll be nominated!
Notice how no one has submitted their name for LEAD actor on Grey’s?
In other news, E! Online has a poll for best Guest Star. JDM is not doing too well. As of a few minutes ago he was losing, with only Nicole Richie behind him.
Here’s Kristin’s write up on Jeff:
• Jeffrey Dean Morgan‘s character this season on Grey’s Anatomy, dead Denny Duquette may be controversial, but JDM’s radioactive star power is unquestionable. Now, tell us, isn’t there a TV series pilot out there somewhere that needs a broody, badass leading man? The question isn’t why is JDM in so many shows, but why isn’t he in more shows?

Jeffrey Dean Morgan - Best Guest Star? Only you can decide!

Do you think he stands a realistic chance of getting a nom, or even winning the thing? I’m rather doubtful.
I understand that these kind of Emmies are given not only for the performance, but also for the storyline of your character.
While I thought Jeffrey’s acting was top-notch in season 5 of GA, Denny’s storyline was not. Far from it. From what I’ve read and heard, critics and fans equally disliked it. Surely this would influence the jurors of the Emmy.
I’d love to see Jeffrey win a big award…..but I don’t think it will happen this year with the Emmy.
I don’t think he’ll be nominated either. If you look at the past winners in this category the academy likes to nominate “serious” shows, like House and Boston Legal.
Jeffrey has 3 theatrical movies still to be released this year. So there’s a good chance he could be nominated for an award for one of those. There’s the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors’ Guild, and that other awards show. You know, the one Billy Crystal hosts a lot!
