Will Jeffrey Dean Morgan be visiting Big Stone Gap?

Will Jeffrey Dean Morgan be visiting Big Stone Gap?

You may remember that last May Adriana Trigiani, author of the Big Stone Gap books, mentioned in an interview that Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be part of the cast of the movie adaptation.

Nothing ever came of it, but it seems to be back in the news, with the author saying Jeffrey Dean Morgan is “possibility.”

And what of the character she wants him to play? Here’s a description from a JDM fan -

“Jack MacChesney is the sexy mild-mannered coal miner who’s the love interest of the protagonist. Most of the book focuses on how big and manly he is and what a nice backside he has, so…I say they cast the right man for the job, yes?”

Obviously this is a romantic comedy. Is this something you want to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan do again?

i fell for jeffrey dean morgan when he swept me off my feet in an accidental husband, he's been at the top of my list with russell crowe & gerald butler, i always buy two of his dvds so that i have a back up if one goes wrong, i can't wait to see the losers at the cinema, i picked him in a series and more comedies.
  • Hi Jeny,

Thanks for posting! I can't wait to see The Losers either. Let's hope it's a huge hit!

Thanks:-) That's wonderful of you to say. I want this site to be inclusive and for all fans to feel welcome.

In the next couple of days I'll be installing a plugin that will allow people to subscribe to comments if they want to, and sign in using their OpenIDs the way blogger does, just to make things a little more user friendly.

And I'm open to any suggestions from readers!

i think he wanted to steer a little clear of the romantic roles for a while so he would not end up being type cast. do you think he should consider this after all the "bad ass" roles lined up for him? i read the book, it was ok, didn't really knock my socks off, in any respect.

I wouldn't want to see him in this since I'm not really a rom com fan. But it sounds more like the author's casting wish list, not actual preliminary casting news, so we'll have to see what happens.

He did audition for Valentine's Day, so he's not averse to doing more rom coms.

I'd like to see him in a variety of roles, maybe some drama like he's doing with The Field and Unblinking Eye, mixed with some bad ass roles and some comedy.

What would you like to see him in, if he were fired for not selling enough shamwows?

i dunno, surprise me. although i haaaattted the Blake character in Watchmen, (sorry I could not muster up any empathy for that character), i think he did a really good job in the role. when i was watching him, i forgot who he is (i.e., focusing on the character and not the actor)...know what I mean? I get the impression the calibre of acting is on par with the material.

I think that's the key. If a movie is well written, acted and directed I usually want to see it.

I'm not a fan of any particular genre - I'll go see a well made sci fi film before I see a dreadfully reviewed drama.

I also didn't feel any empathy for Blake, but he and Rorshach were the most interesting characters in the movie. It's always the psychopaths!

From the description it sounds like a pretty perfect part for him ;), but then again I would watch him in anything, even a ShamWow commercial.

You just like the bum part:-)

I'm not too familiar with the book, but it sounds pretty lighthearted. But yes, I would go see him in anything, though I would prefer it was not a rom com:-)

I definitely enjoy a good rom com, I don't know, however, anything about this but I mean a big and manly guy with a nice backside? Check, check and check! I am really looking forward to the Losers though, I think he can play a wide range of roles and he'll be great in it.
  • admin
I think we have the same check list!

And he'd play a miner in Big Stone Gap. What's manlier than that??
  • Gabi
    sounds VERY good to me.

Any and all of the above genres work for me...as long as I can see his handsome face....♥
  • admin
Hey tiger! Covering all your bases is good thinking!

So we'll put you in the "I'll take whatever I can get" category:-)

    i picked shamwow ;)
  • admin
    Hey boops!

You're either very neat or an insomniac:-)

I picked Serious Drama, because as much fun as The Losers looks, my favourite genre is drama and I'd really like to see JDM tackle something heavy. Hopefully we'll see Shanghai and The Resident this year.
