I’ve added some screencaps of Jeffrey Dean Morgan in Shanghai to the Gallery. These are from a DVD and not some guy with a camera in the theatre!

ETA: Some people have been asking for spoilers for Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s role in Jonah Hex. I don’t want to spoil anyone, but some sites have started posted the details and not every fan is going to pay to see a 5 minute scene. So if you want to know more about his role, click HERE.
You’ve probably heard by now that Jeffrey Dean Morgan has a small role in Jonah Hex, the comic book based movie starring Josh Brolin. Though his scene is only about 5 minutes long, I’ve heard that it’s the best scene in the movie.
Here’s an excerpt from the producers on casting JDM:
I wanted to ask about casting Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Tom Wopat.
Lazar: Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a friend of Warner Brothers, he’s done a bunch of movies there, and we tried to get somebody who had some gravitas to go up against Josh, and it’s actually one of my favorite scenes in the film, so we asked him to do us a favor, and he did it.
Was that for free?
Lazar: Pretty much. When you come in and do a small part like that, even though it’s an interesting role, Jeffrey Dean’s a pretty respected actor, and I could have cast him as Jonah Hex, had Josh passed.
Shanghai, a movie Jeffrey Dean Morgan filmed in 2008 for The Weinstein Co., had its international premiere this week. Star John Cusack has been on a friendship tour of China and attended the premiere in Shanghai on June 10. It’s also playing at the Shanghai Film Festival. The reviews have been generally good. Hopefully this will encourage The Weinstein Co. to give this movie a higher priority on its North American and European schedule.
On the Red Dawn front we heard earlier this week that because of MGM going into receivership that Red Dawn would never be released. But then MGM countered with a statement saying that Red Dawn was still on for November.
But when TheWrap contacted the studio, its head of marketing, Mike Vollman, was adamant the the movie is “still dated for Nov. 24.” He had no comment regarding the Times report besides pointing out that it didn’t quote anyone from MGM.
I want to believe him, though I won’t be surprised if it turns out the rumours are right!

I edited the Making Of video so we can just watch Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s part. And that kiss!
In the draft of the script I saw, Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character, Conner, is described as: “There’s a delicate, almost feminine beauty about him”!! That must have been a very early draft!
And I screencapped the video:

Here’s a Making Of feature with the cast of Shanghai. It includes a brief clip and interview with Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Not only does this movie look great, JDM’s character looks great. I want to see this. I think we need to have a talk with the Weinsteins!
If you don’t want to see the whole feature since it has a lot of spoilers you can fast forward to the 3:20 mark.
And thanks to the amazing Marla at Admiring Gong Li for helping me out with getting Shanghai updates, since they’re mostly in Chinese.
