Time for a Jeffrey Dean Morgan movies update

It seems like we need a chart to keep track of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s movies, with all the changing release dates.

So what’s new or changed?

The Losers is set to start filming in two weeks in Puerto Rico, still with a release date of April 2010.

As mentioned before, Taking Woodstock is now coming out August 28, two weeks later than the original release date.

According to comingsoon.net, Shanghai has been removed from the Weinstein Company’s release schedule for 2009 and is being pushed back to a 2010 release date.

All Good Things has been pushed back to the fall, but since this is also being distributed by the Weinstein Company, I wouldn’t bet on this.

Watchmen is being released on DVD and Blu Ray July 21.

And The Accidental Husband DVD release? Last I heard it was July 2009…

Isn’t this a great image from The Losers? A poster based on this with the actors’ features will be released at Comic Con, so if you’re lucky enough to be attending, you may want to snag one of these.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan – Not coming to a theater near you?

Will we be seeing any Jeffrey Dean Morgan movies in the theater this year?  Taking Woodstock seems like a sure thing, but The Accidental Husband looks like it won’t have a theatrical release because the distributor, the Yari Group, filed for bankruptcy late last year.  Even a DVD release date keeps getting delayed.

Now it looks like a couple of other movies are looking at the same fate. All Good Things and Shanghai may be in danger of having their releases pushed back even further or not being released at all due to the financial troubles of their distributor, The Weinstein Company.

There’s been lots of hints out there lately that The Weinstein Co. is on the verge of financial collapse and is hoping that Halloween and Inglorious Basterds succeed financially and allow them to promote and release their other films and stop the company from having to declare bankruptcy. But it isn’t looking good.

You can read more at Deadline Hollywood. Here is the bit that talks about Shanghai and All Good Things:

That’s not all. Film financing sources tell me that, at one point, The Weinstein Company had scheduled for release the movie All Good Things for July 24th. This would have been the indie’s first pic out since February. But now TWC will be pushing that film to the 4th quarter, which prompted talk that TWC “doesn’t have the P& A to release it” and “is are worried about the financial results of its distribution”. Not so, says an insider with the production. It won’t be delivered until fall “for reasons having nothing to do with the Weinsteins”. Of course, this info was relayed to me after the Weinsteins placed a call to someone connected to the pic. I’m told “the movie is really strong. We just needed more time to complete it.” Groundswell Productions financed the movie but is depending on TWC for marketing and distribution.

TWC also had scheduled Shanghai, a $50+ milllion production, for release on September 4th. One of my sources explains,  “They will push that film to another date in the distant future.”

We always have Days of Wrath to look forward to!

Jeffrey Dean Morgan in Big Stone Gap?

I’m not sure if this is tentative casting news, or just the writer’s wish list, but there’s an item on Google about casting for a movie based on “Big Stone Gap” by Adriana Trigiani.

Big Stone Gap Casting News

I’ve just heard Adriana interviewed on Radio 4′s Loose Ends and she let slip some info about the forthcoming Big Stone Gap movie. First of all, Adriana is directing it herself (she is a seasoned movie director as well as a novelist). Ave Maria Mulligan will be played by Ashley Judd. The sexy Jack Mac will be played by the sexy Jeffrey Dean Morgan. And Whoopi Goldberg is taking on Fleeta.

I’ve never heard of this book. Has anyone read this? If so, what is it about?

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and GA Cast video for the Enough Project

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, along with some of the Grey’s Anatomy cast and Mary Louise Parker, have appeared in a PSA promoting The Enough Project and Raise Hope for Congo.  They are trying to bring awareness to the civil war in the Congo and how our demand for high tech goods using “conflict materials” only fuels the violence.
