The Weinstein Company has announced their releases for the remainder of 2010 and once again Shanghai is not on the list. This movie, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, John Cusack and Gong Li, was originally scheduled to be released in December 2008. Maybe the North American release will happen when and if there’s a premiere in Aisa. Otherwise, we may have to wait and see if there’s a DVD release for this film.
Filming for The Texas Killing Fields starts in May for seven weeks in New Orleans, Louisiana. The release is scheduled for 2011, unless The Weinsteins get their hands on it. Then it’s anybody’s guess.
Here’s another interview with Jeffrey Dean Morgan from The Losers set visit. There are lots of spoilers in this report, so if you’re sensitive about that you may want to avoid it.
“The Losers” is supposed to be Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s coming out party on the big screen. Sure, the former “Grey’s Anatomy” star played the Comedian in “Watchmen” and sparred with Uma Thurman in the barely seen romantic comedy “The Accidental Husband,” but “Losers” should be the one action flick that at least gets Morgan a slew of leading roles, right? That was certainly the thinking seven months ago as a select number of journalists visited the set in Puerto Rico.
Someone asked about Jeffrey Dean Morgan screencaps from Taking Woodstock and I realized I hadn’t posted any! So I took some. They are a bit repetitious, so be warned!
I added them to the Gallery. Here are a couple sample images and the rest are at the link below:
Like a lot of other JDM fans this weekend I saw Taking Woodstock. We went to a matinee Friday afternoon and there was about 16 people in the theatre. NOT a good sign in a movie mad town like Toronto.
Judging from the reaction to Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s name in the opening credits it seems a few were there to see him.
I’m a huge Ang Lee fan and though this is not going to be one of my favourites, parts of it were funny, but the first half was much better than the second. Judging from the video clips posted online I expected more screen time for Liev Schrieber and Emile Hirsch. Demetri Martin is likeable but I don’t think he can carry a whole film. He was in almost every scene and it got tiring watching him after a while.
As for Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s role, for the short amount of time he was onscreen he was funny. But he was in only three scenes. From what I’ve read online, there seems to be a lot of stuff that was filmed but not in the movie. A director’s cut DVD in the future? We’ll just have to see.
But go see this movie! It looks like we won’t be getting any new JDM at the theatres until Invasion of Privacy is released in February.
Just Press Play is giving away a Taking Woodstock prize pack, which includes the soundtrack, a t-shirt and an air freshener? I guess it would have come in handy if you hadn’t showered for three days!
